Mgr. Patrick Aris

Patrick Aris, né le 9 septembre 1961 à Léogâne, a commencé son parcours éducatif dans sa ville natale, poursuivant ses études primaires et une partie du secondaire avant de s’engager dans la voie ecclésiastique. Après un an au petit séminaire, il entre au grand Séminaire interdiocésain Notre Dame en septembre 1983, où il consacre deux ans à la philosophie et quatre ans à la théologie. Son ordination sacerdotale a lieu le 6 décembre 1990 à la cathédrale de Port-au-Prince, officiée par Mgr François Wolf Ligondé.

Les cinq années suivantes (1990-1995), il sert comme vicaire coopérateur à la paroisse St Pierre de Pétion-ville, tout en étant aumônier des Carmélites de la ville. Il devient ensuite, pour un an (1995-1996), aumônier des Petites Sœurs de Ste Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus, une congrégation religieuse autochtone.

Sa quête de connaissance le mène en France de 1996 à 1999 pour poursuivre ses études. Il y obtient une licence en lettres modernes à l’Université Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO) à Angers, puis des maîtrises en philosophie et en théologie à l’Université Catholique de Lyon (UCL), ainsi qu’un baccalauréat en droit canonique au Studium de droit Canonique de Lyon.

De retour en Haïti, il endosse plusieurs responsabilités : directeur diocésain de Justice et Paix, professeur de philosophie au Grand Séminaire, professeur de théologie à l’Université Notre Dame d’Haïti, et secrétaire national pour le grand jubilé de l’an 2000. Il joue également un rôle clé comme observateur permanent de la Conférence des évêques d’Haïti auprès de la société civile durant la crise électorale de 2000, contribuant au dialogue œcuménique entre Catholiques, Protestants et Anglicans. Il participe à des missions de négociation visant à améliorer les relations entre Haïti et la République Dominicaine et obtient un doctorat en théologie du Dominican College d’Ottawa, marquant ainsi une carrière riche et dédiée au service ecclésiastique et académique.

BIOGRAPHY

Msgr Patrick Aris was born in Léogâne Haiti, on September 9, 1961, and attended elementary school and high school there. He attended the Petit Séminaire Collège Saint Martial and Collège Dominique Savio Pétion-Ville Haiti. He received an undergraduate course in modern literature at the Catholic University of the West. As a result of his academic achievements, Msgr. Patrick Aris holds four diplomas in theology including a Ph.D. (Ottawa), a master’s degree in philosophy (Lyon), a baccalaureate degree in Canon Law (Toulouse). He also followed course degrees in modern letters at the Catholic University of West (Angers) in partnership with ParisIV/Sorbonne.

Patrick Aris taught philosophy at the “Grand Seminaire Notre Dame d’Haiti, theology at UNDH, bible sciences at O.C.A.” Msgr. Patrick Aris is an attentive reader of Papal documents. He is very known as scholar and local expert in Ecclesiology, Liturgy and Canon law specially the Law of Consecrated life. Msgr was ordained a priest in 1990 after achieving his studies Philosophy at the Philosophat of Cazeau/Port-au-Prince and theology at the Notre Dame de Turgeau/Port-au-Prince. He was a. He taught catechesis at CODOSA from 1993 to 1995 and at Dominique Mazzarello College in Pétionville/Jacquet, from 1994 to 1996.

From 1994 to 1996, he was a Professor at the Propaedeutic of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince.
